Bienne Darts, Biel’s billiards clubs and their tournaments: discover club life at WESTAST and explore its history.
Four independent clubs bring their history, members and enthusiasm for pool and snooker together. Their merger into Billard Club Biel/Bienne is planned for 1 January 2027.
Pool & Snooker Club Biel (PSC Biel) is part of this venue’s history. Club nights, practice and tournaments took place at the former Pool-Inn on Aarbergstrasse 87. Werner Hurni ran the venue for 38 years, and the close link between club and playing venue continues at WESTAST. Swisspool currently lists WESTAST as PSC Biel’s playing venue. The club championship and Pool-Inn Trophy show that club life remains active here.
History and sources ↗Pool & Snooker Club Kakadu is connected to billiards between Biel and Solothurn. A partnership with PBC Biel is documented as far back as 1999, when the clubs organised a youth session with Mike Massey in Bettlach. Swisspool currently lists PSC Kakadu in Arch.
History and sources ↗Pool-Billard Club Biel (PBC Biel) was founded on 12 January 1979. Its archive records a large local club community, the Seeländer Cup and organised youth development from 1993. This sporting and volunteer heritage is part of the future joint club’s story.
History and sources ↗Pool Billard Verein Biel (PBV Biel) is another independent Biel pool club. Swisspool lists the club with players from the Biel/Bienne region. Its members and experience are also set to join Billard Club Biel/Bienne.
History and sources ↗PSC Biel, PSC Kakadu, PBC Biel and PBV Biel plan to merge as Billard Club Biel/Bienne. The new club aims to carry on the local billiards tradition, support young players and bring casual and competitive players together. The existing club names remain visible until then.

PSC Biel and PBC Biel joined forces to create an international 9-ball tournament. It began in 2006, with qualifying in Biel billiards halls and finals at Le Pavillon.
The first edition brought citywide qualifying and a final day at Le Pavillon. ↗
The second edition of the 9-Ball Grand Prix Open Biel/Bienne continued the tournament series launched in 2006.
Dimitri Jungo beat world champion Daryl Peach at home. The first youth Grand Prix Open was held as well. ↗
The fourth edition went ahead with support from the City of Biel; qualifying was announced for 2–4 April and the final for 5 April at Le Pavillon.
The fifth edition brought players including Dimitri Jungo and Shane Van Boening to Biel. ↗
Five tournaments in five years: the 9-Ball Grand Prix Open Biel/Bienne was held annually from 2006 to 2010.
Bienne Darts holds up to twelve darts tournaments a year at WESTAST. The WESTAST Darts Challenge brings darts enthusiasts together for exciting matches, sporting competition and friendly tournament evenings.
